Presidential Message

Alamo ASHRAE,

Welcome to 2015!  We finished last year with a fun Christmas party where we honored the past presidents.  About 10 past presidents and 40 folks total came out and enjoyed a comfortable private room at Umai Mi with tasty drinks and food.  We got some good laughs and good advice when each past president shared something they learned during their presidency.  The represented years were from 1971 to 2013; everyone enjoyed the fun.

Our brand new website is almost complete!  We hope to “go live” February 28th.  This website has a multitude of capabilities including allowing members to RSVP and pay for events and meetings, sponsor events, view the directory, view pictures from events, view past newsletters, contact members, view upcoming events, and much more.  Not only will this website help us communicate, coordinate, and market the chapter, but it will also make the daily and weekly tasks of your chapter officers’ easier.  Lots of logistics go into our meetings and events; with the added help of the website, recruitment and sustainment of the chapter’s volunteers should be better.

Speaking of volunteers, we have a few opportunities for service to the chapter.  Membership Promotion and Student Activities are two chapter chairs that are in need of filling.  Membership Promotion just opened up and Student Activities has faithfully been filled for many years by Mario Mijangos.  Also, YEA and Treasure will become available this summer.  These are all important positions that are vital to our chapter’s growth and sustainability.  If you haven’t considered volunteering at ASHRAE, I’d ask you to think about it.  I have enjoyed working with the great members in our chapter and representing us at the regional level.  If you ask our chapter chairs about volunteering for ASHRAE you will hear these words in their responses: importance of communication, good people, parties, solid networking, learning, giving back, fun, structure, and rewarding.  So think about it!

A new year means another golf tournament!  To offset the drudgery that comes with April 15th, we will be golfing at TPC San Antonio!  We tee off at 8am this year to allow for more time after we play for awards and socializing.  Keep reading the newsletter for more information on team registration and sponsor sign-up.  Four!!! (Will be yelled at least 100 times on April 15th)

Happy New Year!
