Presidential Message

December is a great month. I trust that you had a safe and enjoyable Thanksgiving holiday with family and friends.  The HVAC industry has slowed in San Antonio, but we all have big hopes for 2016.  December and January are big months for our consulting engineers as project designs are typically published in January for school work that will be completed in the summer. Our local chapter leadership wants to be respectful of your personal time so we will NOT have a December lunch meeting.  But we will have a Christmas party on 12/3.  We'll have a strong bevy of monthly technical meetings for you next year.  Merry Christmas!

We have some exciting local events planned for the next few months.  Short term look-ahead:

  • 12/3 Christmas Party @ Cover 3. Look at the most recent chapter newsletter for more information on the Christmas Party.  This event is for our members, but is also a time dedicated to honoring local Alamo ASHRAE past presidents.  This event is always a barnburner.
  • Meeting Sponsorship Opportunity.  For all monthly meetings, we are actively seeking meeting sponsors ($250 cost).  The sponsorship allows you to set up a welcome table during the check-in process, allows you 5 minutes of presentation time at the beginning of the meeting, and you can pass out propaganda items to all attendees. This is an available sponsorship opportunity for any interested sponsor at each of our meetings.  Take advantage of this opportunity and help support our ASHRAE chapter.

11/5 Sporting Clay Shoot Results…The 2015 sporting clays tournament was a success.  We’ll announce fiscal results at the next monthly meeting.  Please congratulate Clint Ullman on winning the top individual shooter award (Score 48/50).  Please encourage the shooter that won the “Most room for improvement award.”  We’ll leave first names out of the discussion (but Ms. Wurzbach was a good sport).  The top team score was awarded to the following shooters: Clint Ullman, Kurt Mosel, Rick Barrera, Frank Tuttle, and Scott Hutcheson. Congrats to all the raffle prize winners and thank you for all general attendees.  We appreciate your support and will look forward to having you as our guests next year.

Society level news? ASHRAE offers some great training courses.  For more info, please follow this link:  Also, now is the time to get signed up for the ASHRAE winter conference (1/23-1/27 in Orlando).  Represent the Alamo Chapter by attending.

If you have any suggestions on what you would like the local or regional ASHRAE BOG to accomplish this year, please let us know.
